Massachusetts Cooking Schools
This is a great state for seafood lovers, and one of the best ways to sample the Atlantic's bounty is by visiting the many festivals held every year. Three we recommend occur in late summer and early fall: the Mayflower Lobster Festival (Plymouth), Clamfest (Essex) and Seafest (Nantucket). If you enjoy Italian food, Boston is a great place to be in July and August. That's when the North End's Italian community stages a festival every weekend. Gloucester, New Bedford and Fall River offer plenty of spots to sample Portuguese dishes. The rest of the year -- and throughout the state -- you'll find more seafood, fresh produce (cranberries, blueberries, cheeses) and, of course, baked beans. When it comes to after-dinner treats, New Englanders love premium ice cream. Ask locals where to find the best.
